After decades of longing for smaller breasts, I finally reached a point where I believed I had saved enough to make a change. Exacerbated by both sagging and weight gain, my breasts had ballooned even more in size over the last 8 years. Encouraged by a promising online review praising Dr. Day for transforming a patient from a DDD+ to a comfortable B to small C cup, I felt reassured that my hopes would be understood and realized. However, what followed was a devastating disappointment. Despite my explicit desires to be a comfortable B to small C cup and Dr. Day's supposed expertise in such procedures, I emerged from surgery with breasts the same size as before the weight gain, a full D cup. My disappointment, sadness and regret were only compounded by my health being jeopardized. Following complications from the surgery, I spent a costly week in the ICU: An expense not covered by insurance. At my standard post-op appointment with Dr. Day, I explained my fight with insurance over the denial to cover the hospital expenses. He offered to assist by reducing his procedural fees should insurance not cover the hospital bills. At the next appointment, I shared the insurance company’s final decision not to cover any expenses and asked about his offer of financial assistance. He told me he would not do that. The only thing he would do is another breast reduction surgery at an additional $5000 cost (surgery center and anesthesiologist fees) to me. I am terrified to risk my life again to get the results I asked for initially.
