Dr. Scott Mittenthal, MD

dr. mittenthal is one of the heros of my baby’s birth. i was rushed in for an emergency c-section at 35 weeks and was already afraid for myself and baby, but have a bit of a needle phobia. i had chosen unmedicated birth for my first two babies partially because that seemed better than a needle in the spine! i told him straight to his face that i was afraid of him and his response was total compassion and kindness and in the hectic situation he went out of his way to create as much calmness and reassurance as possible for me. i often joke that he was the doula too, because he was there alongside my husband providing reassurance and calmness to us both, the way our doulas did in previous births. my baby just turned 5 but when i reflect back on his birth, i always thank my lucky stars that dr. mittenthal was the anesthesiologist on duty that day.
